Teen and Community Center

Help Protect Our Investment in the Future

For more than a decade, the Johnson Public Library Board of Trustees envisioned modernizing outdated sections of the library and creating a vibrant Teen and Community Center—a welcoming space where people of all ages can learn, connect, and grow.

Today, that vision was made real (Learn More below) due to a $1 million transformation, funded by a generous $250,000 grant from the Oritani Charitable Foundation and the Board's decision to invest virtually all of the Library's reserves.

Because Johnson Public Library owns its building, it is responsible for funding major maintenance and future improvements. We are now asking our community to help restore these reserves so the Library remains financially prepared for years to come.

The Board made the investment. Together, we can protect it.

Our campaign is focused primarily on the nearly $175,000 invested in furnishing the Teen and Community Center. Every gift—large or small—is greatly appreciated and respected. Every gift helps strengthen the Library's future.

We ask donors to consider sponsoring a specific piece of furniture. Learn more about how you can help by visiting the Donor Recognition and Furniture Costs page.

Thank you for helping ensure that Johnson Public Library continues to serve our community for generations to come.

The conference room accommodates 15-25 people. It is equipped with technology to host virtual and hybrid meetings, training, and workshops. It will also be available for use by local small businesses and educational organizations.

The three study rooms can be used as a private space for tele-health appointments, job interviews, virtual court - and of course studying. The rooms are available to the public for free by reservation.

The Teen Room is a place where teens can be teens. Young adult collections have also been relocated to the lower level for easy access by the teens. There are also 6 dedicated computers for teens to use for homework, to play games, etc.

We have so many exciting things going on, be the first to find out!
